I didn't like the fact that after everything was all nice and perfect and everyone was happy, Satan is supposed to be let loose again. Everyone would be tested and judged (again). Didn't everyone go through enough to survive Armegeddon the first time? So much for an abundance of peace!

What did you not like about the paradise?
by reneeisorym ini have always loved it when the seasons changes.
i was always told that we would have temerate weather all of the time and the seasons wouldn't chage.
i always thought i would miss the changing leaves, budding flowers after it has been so cold, and the snow.

Welcome! I put in 38 years myself. A fader also. Happier than ever to be free!
In hindsight, I think being a JW kept me out of a lot of trouble as a teenager and probably gave me values I still stick to. But also in hindsight, I still wish my mother would have stayed in the Baptist church instead of getting us involved with the JW teachings. The bad outweights the good.

Even though you're a JW, I don't know you so back off!
by Younglove1999 indid you ever feel that way when you were in "the truth"?
i hated that people tried to overstep the normal boundaries humans have with strangers and get all "brotherly and encouraging".
when we changed congregations, i found it so annoying when people we barely knew tried to act as if we were best friends.

I agree. Especially when you realize they are forced to act that way toward each other.

Does Fading from the Borg Lead to Deceit in Other Walks of Life?
by ThomasCovenant inplease, please remember i am asking a question, not stating a fact.. .
there appears to be many advantages to fading out of the 'truth' as opposed to a full blown "i don't believe it and i'm out of here regardless of consequences'' policy.. reading others postings and experiences here and my own local experiences i can truly see why many do so.
i remember during the later stages of my still attending meetings talking to a couple who had stopped going to meetings a few years before.

I don't think Fading is any more deceitful than trying to force yourself to do all the requirements to stay in "good standing" in the congregation. You can't even be honest with yourself. After I got out, I learned how truly honest my life was going to be.

When I quit after 38 years, I had the freedom to read and think any way I wanted. I still believe in God and I try to be a good Christian. I have never been able to resolve my issues with organized religion, and I don't think I ever will. It would be easier if I had never been a JW. However, whether I'm right or wrong, I don't beat myself up about it anymore.

MY DAD MIGHT DIE DUE TO THE 'NO BLOOD' DOCTRINE
by Mary ini don't have much time to post as i'm headed back to the hospital, but my father collapsed this morning and had to be rushed to the hospital.
in a nutshell: he needs a blood transfusion as his hemoglobin is dropping (bleeding internally), but thanks to this fucking cult, that's not an option...........he'll accept the fractions but those bastards from the blood liaison committee have already shown up to ensure he doesn't cave............... for those of you who still believe, i'm asking you to say a prayer for my dad........and if anyone from crooklyn is reading this: you better hope my father doesn't die due to your fucked up rules, .

Mary,
I'm glad your Dad is going to be alright. You were brilliant with the hospital staff. They don't want him to die either. I'm sure they were glad to have you as his advocate to help make the right decisions.
Take care.

Would there be more JWs if the internet did not exist?
by cultswatter inlets face it, the jws have a virus and they are eager to spread it.
the internet innoculates the world against the jw virus.
a) would there be more jws today if the internet did not exist??

I think many would not have quit if it weren't for the internet information. Since Brooklyn wants to start deceiving the world with the upcoming "public only" version of the Watchtower, I hope this gets more people to start getting the facts from the web.
